Prayer Campaign: Day 41

Praying for Adults in Brazil
Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.” (1 Corinthians 14:20)

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:11-15
)

Let us pray for adults.
Let us ask God to give them courage and heart.  With so many adversities and many irregularities in Brazil is very easy to be tempted to get discouraged and turn cold.
Let us pray for health, for jobs, for deliverances of violence, let us pray for peace.
Let us pray for those who still need an encounter with God.
Let us pray for those involved in addictions.
Let us pray for householders. Pray that they may have wisdom to lead their families and be able to do it with dignity.
Let us pray for maturity.
Let us pray adults realize the stage of life they are in, and live it fullest.
Let us pray for the awakening in every adult heart of the sense of how they are responsible for building a better world for future generations. Children and youth are adults´ imitators.

Prayer Campaign: Day 40

Praying for Brazilian Youth
I write to you, dear children,     because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers,  because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because  you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.”  (1 John 2:14)

Let us pray for everyone to have a true encounter with God, to discover what path should go through and stay in the center of God's will for their lives.
Let us pray for Brazilian youth, so that they realize how much hope is placed in their lives and use this power of transforming to build a better country.
Pray that the youth use all the energy for good deeds, for serving others and God, and do not be entangled by selfishness, consumerism, violence and drugs.

Prayer Campaign: Day 39

Praying for Children
"Whoever receives one such child in my name welcomes me." (Matthew 18:5)

Let us pray for the children. With special attention, pray for Brazilian children.
We don´t have to think a lot to find reasons to pray for the little ones. We are all watching the news of the crimes committed against children.
Let us pray today:
- for respect for children´s right to be treated as such and experience this phase of life fully,
- for improvements in education,
- for the right of children to receive good medical care,
- for children involved in the world of trafficking,
- for street children,
- against pedophilia,
- for the end of child pornography,
- for those who are in charge of kids´ education: parents, baby-sitters, teachers, evangelists...

Prayer Campaign: Day 38

Praying for Unemployed

And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more,  and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,  so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” (1 Thessalonians 4:10-12)
Praying for the unemployed, particularly the householders who are unemployed, to have balance and tranquility in the search of work. That they may know how to master anxiety and understand that at the right time, the right opportunity will come.
Pray for more opportunities for decent jobs.
Let us pray for the qualification of the unemployed, so that they have opportunities to improve their knowledge.
Pray for the willingness to work. We pray especially for the young who have increasingly discouraged when thinking about working.

November 23rd

Thanksgiving Day!

Prayer Campaign: Day 37

Praying for Workers
“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.  Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.  Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,  because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. ” (Ephesians 6:5-8)

Pray for the appreciation of workers and respect for each profession, for fair wages and  for decent work.
Let us pray today for a change in the vision we have of working. Being a worker is to be obedient to God's Word and not being punished by Him. From the beginning, God willed that man worked. With sin there was rather a change of perspective, but Christ restores it as blessing.
To work, to serve others is rather a way to imitate Christ. Jesus worked and it was not little. He worked a lot!
Do not work is to sin. Laziness is a sin!
Let us pray also for those who, on the other hand, value their jobs too much, reaching almost to the level of idolatry. Peolple who work so much that they do not have time for family, friends, even for themselves ... Let us pray for these people, that they may learn to balance and work without losing sight of the importance of enjoying what  working
 provides us.

Prayer Campaign: Day 36

Praying for the Companies
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
If you're happy with your work, pray thanking God. If you are not happy, give thanks also  and ask God to change directions.
Be smart! Always thank!
Let us ask God to bless the companies that:
- there is protection in those places, protection of workers against accidents, protection from violence abroad,
- there is no bickering, strife, disunity. That envy and jealousy get out of work places,
- there is unity and partnership among workers,
- may peace and prosperity take these places!

Prayer Campaign: Day 35

Praying for the Sick
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God,  stricken by him, and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for  our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5)
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God
all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
Let´s pray for those who are facing spiritual or physical diseases.
Ask God today for physical healing, but also healing of the soul!
Let us pray for those who suffer from diseases difficult to treat.
Let us pray for those who suffer waiting for  a vacancy  to be treated.
Let us pray for those who suffer from diseases that limit their lives in the simplest functions of life, as working, driving, taking a bus, travelling...
Let us pray for an end to prejudice against chronic, psychiatric and disabled patients.
Let us pray for the Brazilian public health services. Pray that the Brazilian government values health  attention.
Let us pray for health professionals and researchers.

Prayer Campaign: Day 34

Praying for Drug Addicts
"Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit,
perfecting holiness out of reverence for God." (2 Corinthians 7:1)
"The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:19-21)
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God´s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." (Romans 12:1)

Let´s deliver in God´s hands all users of, licit and illicit, drugs.
Let´s pray for those who use alcohol, cigarettes and medicines as safety valves and cheat themselves saying that they are in control of use.
Let´s pray for the addicts of crack, heroine, cocaine, marijuana and so many other substances, to be truly set free.
Let´s pray for the reason people started abusing drugs: bad companies, bad feelings as rejections, insecurity, anxiety, fear, inferiority complex... All this is rebuked in the name of JESUS!
Let´s pray for those who earn money with traffic.
Let´s pray for the families destroyed by drug abuse.

Prayer Campaign: Day 33

Praying for Prisoners
"I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me" (Matthew 25:35)

Let´s pray today for the prisoners, especially Brazilians.
Let´s pray for repentance and changing of their lives, truly. Pray that the time they remain detained be a time for rehabilitation and not to get worse.
Let´s pray for prisoners´ families. Pray for wisdom, that they help in the recovering process and don´t help in the maintenance of the criminal actions.
Let´s pray for the officials of Brazilian prison system.
Pray for the Christian groups who vist the jails taking a friendly and blessed word to those places.

Prayer Campaign: Day 32

Praying for the Homeless
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave something to drink, I was stranger and you invited me in,"(Matthew 25:35)

Let´s pray today for homeless people.
People who live on the streets for many diferente reasons and are hungry, cold, sick...
Pray for the end of violence against homeless.
Pray for social justice and social inequality decreasing.
Let´s pray for us too, asking God to keep our hearts filled with compassion for these people.

Prayer Campaign: Day 31

Praying for Educators
"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." (Proverbs 22:6)
"My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth."(Psalm 78:1)
Today is the day to pray for educators.
We remember with gratitude our teachers.
Do you remember the name of who taught you to read and write? Thanks to him you are reading this text. (Maybe this person is no longer with us anymore, and then there is no reason to pray for him. But, you can show your gratitude interceding for his offspring.)
You can pray for the educators who suffer with the devaluation of education, specially in Brazil.
Pray for the end of violence against teachers and depredation of schools.
Ask God for more teachers directed, truly committed to education.
Let us also pray for Sunday Bible School Classes, Home Small Groups and their teachers and leaders.
Pray today asking God to give us wisdom to discern good teachings and take advantage of the learning  opportunities offered to us.

segunda-feira, 18 de novembro de 2013

Prayer Campaign: Day 30

Praying for Military Forces
I commanded you at that time: “The Lord your God has given you this land to take possession of it. But all your able-bodied men, armed for battle, must cross over ahead of the other Israelites.” (Deuteronomy 3:18)
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
 (2 Timothy 4:7)

As Christians we are constantly compared to soldiers.
We are the fighters of the kingdom of God.
Let us pray today for military forces!
Let us pray that our fighters continue defending our country order and its sovereignty.
But let us pray in a special way that God give them  wisdom, that all the actions happens according to God's will, in the fear of Christ.
Pray for our military, that they have wisdom to fight against  crime, violence, drug and weapons  traffic, child exploitation, pedophilia.
Pray for the  humanitarian work that soldiers develop worldwide.

Let us pray for the families of the Brazilian military. Let us pray to God asking that no harm come upon those families whose loved ones are away taking care of other families.

Prayer Campaign: Day 29

Praying for Politicians
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—  for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
“In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water

that he channels toward all who please him.” (Proverbs 21:1)

Yeah, though it is hard, we must pray for politicians.
Of course they´re not perfect and in our country we frequently see them involved in corruption scandals.
But, God instructs us to pray for them. They need God.
Another reason to pray for politicians is that God can touch them in favour of His people. God is sovereign and is in control. He works the way He desires, and His ways are not clear for us all the time. But He is taking care of those who love Him.

Let´s pray for our President, her ministers, deputys, governors, senators, city councilors  and assessors.

Prayer Campaign: Day 28

Praying for Backsliders
"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."(Luke 15:7)
"Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place." (Revelation 2:5)

Today, let´s pray for those who have moved away from the communion with God and the church, and need a new opportunity to draw near.
Let´s remember those who used to be a blessing in God´s presence, to recognize, again, the sovereignty of the Lord, and that there is no other way besides Christ.
Remember the families who are suffering seeing their members lost, to find comfort in Jesus and to have strength enough to not give up on interceding.
Also, pray for the discipleship teams and the church leaders to have wisdom to guide people on God´s path.

Prayer Campaign: Day 27

Praying for baptism with the Holy Spirit
"Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'." (Acts 2:38)
Let us pray today for the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.
Pray for everyone to understand that this baptism does not happen as magic, but that is granted by God, by God's grace.
Let us pray for those who do not believe they deserve this blessing, that they understand that it is precious and necessary for every Christian.
Let us pray for our surrender completely in the hands of Jesus.
Let´s pray we believe more and more in His promises and receive all that He has prepared for us.

quinta-feira, 14 de novembro de 2013

Prayer Campaign: Day 26

Praying for Gifts of the Holy Spirit
"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."
(1 Corinthians 12:7)
"All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines." (1 Corinthians 12:11)
If for each of us God has at least one gift , where's yours?
What is or what are your gifts ?
Maybe your gift does not seem important, perhaps it seems small  for you... Maybe your gift , that seems to be little to you,  causes envy and jealousy , because to someone else it can be tremendous ... Yes , because some people want to get some gifts for vanity .
I like to think of gifts as a pack distributor company.
Whatever your order , your gift is important ... The gift was prepared and packed by the same distributor ... So it comes in a box equal to other boxes, maybe different in size, but  with the same label , closed the same way...
May be in a big box , can come in a smaller box , but it was wrapped with the same care.
Except for the size there is nothing different looking the boxes from the outside .
The difference is how you will receive your order .
You may want your gift, or don´t...
You may wish to open right away  or you can stare at the closed box .
You can open and go right sharing it with others , or you can open the box and hide from people around you .
Let us ask God to prepare us to receive what He wants to give us.
Let us ask Him for understanding to realize that every gift is important.
And also let´s pray asking God to teach us to use our gifts to do good to others according to His will .

quarta-feira, 13 de novembro de 2013

Prayer Campaign: Day 25

Praying for Commitment
"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)

What are your priorities?
To what, or whom, you are committed?
We give priority and commit to what or whom we value.
When we enjoy our jobs, we dedicated to it.
When we love a person, we comitted to it.
And if you love God, you certainly take time out of your day to Him.
You try to please Him and obey Him.
Commitment involves two.
In the Bible it is written that if we approach God, He will draw near to us! (James 4:8)
Living these complicated days, we need more than ever the care of God over our lives!
So let´s get closer to Him!
Let us pray today for commitment:
  • To God,
  • To the Church,
  • To our brothers.

Prayer Campaign: Day 24

Praying for Holiness
"Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14)
"Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil." (Ecclesiastes 9:8)
Dress codes...
For every occasion, there is a type of appropriate clothing.
For a job interview, you will dress well, you will not dress anyway.
If you have a meeting with the city mayor, you will not wear shorts.
On the same way, if you are going to the beach, you will not wear jeans.
So, if in all these occasions you care a lot with your personal appearance, why do you forget to worry about your presentation before God?
If God is watching you all the time, how zealous have you been with your "dress"? Specially you "spiritual clothe"!
How does God see you? And how does He see you right now?
Let's pray today for holiness!
Let's ask God that through His Word and the Holy Spirit give us wisdom to be holy!
Let's ask God for help to leave the "old clothes" back and every day, put on "newer and whiter clothes".
