Mark 15: 1-20
The Gadarene
- Living in a cemetery
- Unprotected, suffering with weather changes, dirty
- No friends, lonely
Where was his family? Did they give up on him or where they still praying? How were they dealing with comments of people of the region?
What about the man´s previous history? Did he have a job? How he became possessed?
- We cross with "Gadarenes" daily... People do not realize but are living throuh the eyes of hell. There are many opressed or possessed people comfortable, living as that man and asking Jesus not to torment.
- Demons recognized Jesus in a sudden. They also recognize the born-again children of God and the body of Christ. Devil senses Jesus presence faster than many believers.
The Pigs
Not suitable for comsumption among Jews, pigs were a product that profitted in local economy.
- Gadara was a greek city. Gadarenes trading pigs was kind a provocation to the Jews. It was a way to say that what they considered sin, Gadarene found as way to prosper. Maybe you know some "Gadarene" today. Provoking Lord´s servants using exactly things christians don´t participate.
- Demons begged to be sent to pigs. And Jesus allowed, teaching that a life of a man is worthy more than 2 thousand pigs. Jesus also taught that prosperity is harmful when disrespects principles of God´s Kingdom.
The Demons
"What is your name? Jesus asked the man: My name is Legion, for we are many"(v.9). Demons made a comparison with the legions of Roman soldiers. Each legion amounted six thousand men.
Jesus the Savior
Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee, landed in Gadara, to change the destiny of many in that place. The Gadarene became an evangelist. His family heard of Jesus and his saving plan.
- The man asked to go with Jesus. (Verse 18). Jesus did not allow, because He had other plans fot that man and others he would find.
He can restore your life putting you "sitting, clother and in his right mind"!
Serve God with intelligence!
