JUDE 1:24-25
The book of Jude talks about several issues t
hat will happen in the last days.
However,the two final verses of Jude´s book show us that we must have hope. Despite all bad things that are happening and that will happen, we must be sure that we will overcome these evil days.
Jude presentes three reasons why we can be certain that God will always be with us!
 
  1. In verse 24, we see that God is able. He is omnipotent. God is the authority over all other authorities. Bible says in Romans 13:1
    There is no authority above God. This verse says that God will prevent you from stumbling or, according to some versions, from falling (missing the focus). God is capable of making us righteous people if we recognize His authorithy in our lives. However, God can oly do in our life what we let Him do . Ephesias 3:20 says that God is able to do immensely more than we ask or imagine "according to His power that is at work within us". It is so good to see that with all his authority, He will never force us to do something. Wo we can be Thankful for God´s authorithy over our lives. Still, no one is perfect. All of us will probably commit some mistakes through the course of our lives even after recognizing His authority over every aspect of our daily lives. And that is the  reason why we need God´s mercy.
  2. The second part of verse 24 shows the merciful nature of God. We may make some mistakes during our journey through life in this world, but if we recognize God´s authorithy in our life, He´s able to presente us before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy. This is a great proof of His mercy. God will Always provide a way for us to resist sin (1 Corinthians 10:13). But if we are not Strong enough to resist some temptations, God gives us several opportunities for us to be presented. Thank God for His amazing mercy. Ephesians 2:4-5 says that God loved us and made us alive in Jesus Christ even when we were dead in our transgressions. And Proverbs 4:18 says that the path of the righteous should be brighter until the full light of day which means that we must fight to become better at every second in order to reah the perfect will of God.
  3. We must be sure that God´s authority  and mercy are everlasting. They last forever! We must keep on praying and strenthening our Faith until Jesus es to the eternal life. Also, in verse 25, the final verse of the book of Jude, He gives us hope to survive when bad  things happen. First, because of God´s authority; second, because of His mercy; and finally because because if we give all the glory, majesty, power and authority to God our savior trough Jesus Christ our Lord, He will be merciful as He was before all ages, merciful as He is now, and will be forevermore.

How do you react when God challenges you?

How many men we see in the Bible who said yes to the most absurd tasks to human´s eyes?

And in place of these men, would I have said yes to God?

Would I have obeyed?

To say "yes"  to simple things considering the level of violence we face these days is difficult...
Imagine if your pastor asks to use your house for a cell. Imagine if he asks you to put a sign on the wall , outside, saying "Here, every Wednesday a cell of Gethsemane Baptist Church happens. Come and join us! Jesus is risen for you! " Would you open your house to a stranger?

Ananias had to pray for a men who persecuted Christians. (Acts 9: 1-18).
Imagine God asking you to pray, to intercede for healing and still call brother a guy who is known to persecute and kill your brothers.  
Jonah was asked to go to Nineveh and preach to those bloodthirsty people.  (Jonah 1: 1-2)
And you stop going to a friend´s house just because this friend offended you. 
There are many examples in the Bible of people who were against the "tide" of logic  putting their lives at risk in the name of God.
And when God puts to the test your financial life?

Imagine that you  receive a financial blessing and God asks you to give up? He asks you to cast your bread... Ecclesiastes 11: 1-2
Imagine if God asks you to buy a plot in the middle of the Sahara desert because he wants to build a church there, promising you that Sahara will be a green area, habitable, full of human beings living... Would you answer positively?

Jeremiah did. (Jeremiah 32:1-15)

In the book of Ezra, we have already reported the return of the exiles from Babylon to Jerusalem. Ezra is one of the exiles. (Ezra 1: 1-7) Jews could return to Jerusalem after a Persian king, Cyrus conquers Babylon. And this same Persian king acknowledges that the fall of Babylon depended on God´s help. Cyrus was Persian. Cyrus was not Jewish. But he acknowledged the existence of God, the authority and the will of God.
          
You are also Gentile ... But God brought you us to His presence, called you to experience His greatness, authority and goodness. He wanted you to taste His love and His saving grace.

And you can say yes or no.
His plans are going to happen regardless of me and you.

But, think for a while: isn´t it better to acknowledge the authority of God, His goodness, His power and saty close to Him? Would not life get easier if you knew the script? If God is the owner of the project,  why aren´t you interested in knowing the best designer and architect?

For a construction to succeed, it´s necessary harmony between architects, master-builder, builders and servants...
Which place are you occupying in the building of the Kingdom?

Who are you in this hierarchy?

Are you respecting the order that exists in building the Kingdom?

Or are you still a brick?

Are  you still depending on someone to get you, position, fix you in the wall...

November 8th

Isaiah 55:1-8

"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, ane eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to m´; listen, that you may live. I will make and everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a ruler and commander of the peoples. Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor." Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsale their ways and unrighteous their thougths. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways may ways," declares the Lord."
 
 
Know your calling.

Know that God is able to do whatever He wants.

Pay attention to God´s directions.

“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20


 


Jesus is telling you to go.

Maybe you don´t know how.

But start where you are. In your family, in your community, in your job…

Start doing something!

Jesus is coming back!

Go!
 
God wants you to go!

There is someone, somewhere, that will meet the love of God through your life!

November 1st

Moses, answering to God´s command, sent 12 men to explore Canaan.  They said the territory was good, but ten of them became afraid because the  cities were large and fortified and the people there were powerful. Only two men, Caleb and Joshua, were not afraid. These two were sure they could conquer that land.

What about you?
Are you part of the ten men?
Or, do you think like the two men?

In life, you are going to face challenges... The way you look to a challenge may change your life.

 
Caleb was not afraid!
You can´t face your "giants" and get paralyzed by fear.
You must believe that God is in control. You don´t have to be afraid.

The way you consider the situation influences your behavior.
Ask the Holy Spirit to change the way you look to all situations you will face in life.
Be positive!
The Lord is with you,  so you may fear nothing!
We must act in accordance with our Faith.
So, have Faith and do something!
Not by Money...
Not by a good job...
Not by possessions...
We can live without a husband/wife, without friends...
But never without Faith!
And these days, it is so hard to live by Faith...
Living by Faith demands patience.
You can´t see but you need to have Faith.
Caleb didn´t know how they were going to defeat the enemy, but he was sure about the victory.
We don´t like to wait these days. We live in an "instantaneous society"!
But keep in mind:
 

It´s never too early or too late to have Faith!
This is the day!

October 25th

The Mind of the Lord
 
 
The glory of God is to keep some things in secret.
God is in heaven.
We are on Earth.
We want to know things in detail. We are so curious...
 


Some people have high thoughts. They think big!
But God´s thoughts are higher!
Don´t try to understand from Him, He will reveal to you on the right time. Be sure!


Romans 9:20: "But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?' "

Isaiah 29: 16b: "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"?"

God does whatever pleases Him!
Before creation, God knew everyting.
Jesus knew the suffering He was going through.
But He conquered the grave and has a plan to prosper you.

You must search for God´s will for your life.
Insist on Reading the Bible .
God wants your faithfulness.
He just wants from you yourself!
And He wants you 100%!
Just take the first step and He will do the rest.
He promises that He will take care!
Depend on God!
He is able to satisfy all your necessities.
Search for Him and learn from Him!
The more you know the Lord, The more He will talk to you and change you.

October 4th

"A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart. Frustration is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart."
Ecclesiastes 7:1-3
 
God is telling you:-Consider your life! How important is it to you to live  righteously?
The Word of God gives you Peace in times of war. It gives joy in times of sadness.
 
"Rejoice in the Lord Always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Philippians 4:4
"Therefore, my Brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!" Philippians 4:1
"And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7
 
It doesn´t mean that you don´t care. You live ok because you live in Peace. And Peace is to have a calm mind.
"I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it." Philippians 4:10
Regardless the circumstances.
"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Philippians 4:12
You must change your perspective of life. Rejoicing in the Lord is more than conquering things. You must be influenced by the Holy Spirit. Joy is part of the fruit of the Spirit:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, Peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness," Galatians 5:22
So, you can´t live happily if you are not filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Bible brings joy to your life. You see so many examples of God working favorably to His people.
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. now remain in my love. If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father´s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." John 15:9-11
We rejoice because of God´s joy in us!
Earthly things can´t make you satisfied completely.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passes away." Revelation 21:4

The Fellowship of the First Believers
Acts 2:42-47
 
"They devoted themselves to the apostles´ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
  • They dedicated themselves to learning and we imitate them. You come to church to learn. Every meeting in the church or small groups has a message for you. Even if you know the Bible by heart, believe there is something else new for you to learn.
  • They recognized the authority  of the apostles. Do you recognize the importance of your pastor? Do you love your church? Do you stand up for it? Do you guard it?
  • They devoted to fellowship. Coming to church is a chance  to meet your friends. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • They shared food and prayers.  It´s very important to eat together. Jesus did this several times. He also prayed together. And those christians were together praying. This way they were calling Jesus´presence.
"Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles."
  • They were not afraid, they feared God. The presence of God was so real that they wanted to stay together. They were witnessing miracles! (Mark 16:17)
"All the believers were together and had everything in common."
  • They were United under the same doctrine.They were all baptized. They were been trained to heaven! 
  • If you are coming to church and you don´t like this Christian environment (the praises, the worship...) what are you expecting from heaven?
"Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need."
  • When we are together celebrating, we have the chance to share something we have as food, juice... That´s part of your propoerty.
  • God can ask you for something else. (Matthew 19:21)
  • Pay attention you will be charged for everything that comes to your hand to do. (Colossians 3:23-24; Ecclesiastes 9:10)
  • Remember that your property goes beyond what money can buy.
"Everyday they continued to meet together in the temple courts, They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,"
  • They had services everyday in the temple. Those who couldn´t be at the temple brake bread in their houses. We also can do this! Getsêmani Church has services daily, also in the 67 missions!
  • Gather your Family! Visit a church in you neighborhood! Promote services at home!Offer your house to host a cell group! Share a devotional book with a friend using internet!
"praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
  • The number of saved people was increasing!
  • They were happy people! They sang, they celebrated, they rejoiced in the Lord!
  • They were nice! Others liked them! They were pleasant people!
  • Their number was increasing of course because of the actoin of God. But, the way they behaved counted. No one likes to be close to boring people... Or a murmurer...

Luke 10:25-37

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

"On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
This is one of the 1st histories of the Bible we learn. It reminds us about mercy, charity, hospitality... Love among foreigners... It leads us to think about mankind...
We are so many, around 7 billion! God loves each one of us. We are very important on the same way to God!
You must balance the certainty that you are important to God and that others are importante too!
Why sometimes are we so cruel?
To show mercy and kindness goes beyond giving food, taking care of wounds...
Why do we ask God to be like Him and don´t react as He would do?
In the parable, Jesus used three different men to teach us.
Those three men were able to help the wounded man...
The priest
He was the mediator between people and God.  Almost a "saint"! But he did nothing. When Jesus came, He the perfect mediator, set us free to access God! And nowadays, all of us are priests. (See Revelation 1:5-6, 1 Peter 2:5)
The levite
Levites were the singers, the musicians, the guards, the bakers... All who werved in the temple or tabernacle. So, all of us are levites, because we are called to serve!
And the samaritan?
Samaritans and Jews were enemies. The first ones were considered unworthy. But Jesus used a Samaritan to teach us that "status" is not important!
The priest and the levite did nothing. And God expects from us faith, but faith together with acts.
Decide today to be kind, nice, to gift someone, to call someone instead of waiting for a call...
Decide to greet people wishing for real the grace and Peace of Jesus!
Decide to look like Jesus and act like Him!
Decide to love!
