STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship is…
… to be in charge of / to administer / to manage somebody’s properties, possessions, etc.

Biblical Stewardship is…
…using what God has put into our hands, knowing that it’s a trust from God to be used in His service, for the benefit of all mankind.

What God has put into your hands?
Family, friends, relationships, money, job, time, car, house, food, possessions, health, body…

Who is a steward?
A steward is a person who…
- …is placed in charge of something …
- …for someone.

The steward understands and recognizes that God is the only owner of everything.  Psalm 24.1 - “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”

Example 1: Adam was put in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Gn. 2.15). But he was not a good steward and God cast him out of the Garden of Eden.

Example 2: Joseph was placed in charge of Potiphar’s home, the prisoners and Egypt as Governor. God was with him and he was a good steward. (Gn. 39.1-23, 41.33-39)

REFLECTION
What kind of steward am I?
Am I using what God has put in my hands to benefit people around me?
What am I doing with all things God has trusted me?

  1. It reminds me of Ecclesiastes 9:10: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." Ana
