New Year!
Amazing to notice that the year is new, but many situations are repeated, as the television reports. This week, a major television news presented an interview whose theme was tips to get lucky in 2012. In other words, the respondent was teaching superstitious practices.

Too bad there wasn´t someone talking about God's love and peace and freedom that His love brings.
Interesting to note that even among us, faithful Christians, for lack of supervision or by tradition, a few superstitions remain. We still find Christians believing that: breaking a mirror brings seven years of bad luck; sweeping the foot of a person does it does not get married; opening umbrellas indoors attracts problems; placing a broom behind the door or throwing salt on the stove sends away inconvenient visitors; passing under a ladder brings bad luck; slippering or turned shoes attracts the mother's death; a bag on the floor sends the money away; throwing coins in a fountain of water can make a wish; getting out of bed on the right foot or into a place with the right foot avoids misfortune; itchy in the right hand is a sign of loss of money (if in the left hand sign of money coming in, if the itching is at the foot, it´s a sign of traveling abroad); and many other examples.
Superstition is a danger! Displeasing to God! Just remember that Israel was punished for superstitious practices. See there in Deuteronomy 18:9-14, how God instructs the people. "Let no one be foud among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you."
The Christian who has intimacy with God realizes the extent of the power of God and abandon these practices. Those who recognize the sufficiency of Christ abandon such unbiblical practices that are displeasing to God. The Bible relates that once a group of superstitious people, involved with magic, after surrender their lives to Jesus Christ, gathered his books of magic formulas and burned them before all the people (Acts 19:19).
The justifications of some religions to use certain objects or for ritualistic practices are easily felled by an appeal to the Bible. Search more biblical knowledge, do it with a the heart, eyes and ears open and let God give thee himself. It is written: "And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32).
A servant of God is protected! No need to submit to the yoke of superstition misleading, prayers, faith healers, amulets, plants and other things to avoid evil for the Lord is in charge of care. The Bible teaches again: "We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him." (I John. 5:18).
May your 2012 be blessed in Jesus' name! To God be all honor and glory!
