Do you know the statistics of poverty in
Brazil?
We are more than 195 million of Brazilians.
For every 10 Brazilians, 1 have a monthly
income
of up to 70 reais.
So, in each 10
people, 1 person lives with
around 2 reais per day.
Here in Belo Horizonte, we have lots of
needy people.
Belo Horizonte has 2,375.000 million
inhabitants. And living in precarious
conditions are 9.3%, so more than 220 thousand are needy. Is too many!
How do you feel?
We
must ask God to give us merciful hearts… And mercy comes with the wisdom given to us by the
Holy Spirit.
We must ask God for that.
“Blessed are the
merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”Matthew 5:7
“ But
go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’For I
have not come to call the righteous, but sinners”.”Matthew 9:13
“ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a
living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
1 Peter 1:3
Jesus gave a show of mercy!
He died for all sorts of people. It was not
just beautiful people. Jesus was the greatest missionary.
Let´s learn from Him.
Missionary
means:
Someone
who has the task of preaching in places
where their religion has not been widespread, performs work of social promotion or
in a place that needs revival of their religion or belief. It is a common
figure in many beliefs.
Many
confuse mission with activities in international regions, but
the missions can be local, regional, state,
national, international, world.
Jesus walked on foot and in groups.
“Jesus called his disciples to him and
said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want
to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.””
Matthew 15:32
How we walk, in Belo Horizonte?
We have
more than a million vehicles in our city. And most of us drive alone.
Jesus ate with the scum of society.
"While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many
tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and
sinners?” Matthew 9:10-11
He not only provided food for crowds, but
sat down and ate with them. And what do we do? We take a thermos full of
chocolate, a bag of sandwiches and takes pro group of homeless people near the
service. Okay, we're giving food
to the hungry ... But God does
not expect a little more of us? Is
that the best would not sit and eat there too?
Jesus came to give meaning and direction.
"Jesus answered,
“I am the way the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me"." John 14:6
Lately people are
sad, depressed, unfocused, with no prospect of life. The word of God says that "we are
healed." If we are, where are the ill people that
need to be healed? We need to
identify these people and be instruments of God in their lives, the carriers of
healing.
Being a missionary goes beyond the idea of going to Africa or
Haiti ... You have to be a
missionary everywhere, at home, at work, in society ... Being a missionary
is something to do everyday…Simple attitudes, simple things…
There is much to be done yet.
There are many people to be reached!
This means that very close to us there are
still many people who need to hear about Jesus! People who need you God´s missionary!
Next weekend, on June 2, around the world
each Christian is invited to share the Gospel at least to one person. It will be a huge wave of evangelism!
THE GOSPEL OUTREACH DAY!
But, more then 1 day!
Why don´t we choose someone to intercede for, for next 30 days? . I challenge you to intercede for a
single person in the next 30 days. Think of a person who you would like to see in the presence of the Lord! Lets pray!
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you.We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
